Exactly one year ago in a foreign country Neeva woke up before the roosters began their morning call. She stumbled out of bed, knocking into anything not bolted to the floor, a little disoriented but overtly excited. Excited to finally be in front of the camera instead of behind it, excited to document our lives, our relationship and our time in the beautiful country of Italy. It was a little before 4:30AM as she opened all the lights, all the windows, turned on the TV that was blasting Italian news and began getting ready; excited, smiling and jumping for joy. Three hours until our engagement session in the most romantic city in the world, Venice Italy.

As Neeva began to meticulously do her hair, her makeup and look absolutely stunning; I was laying in bed nervous for the day to come. Nervous because in four short hours on the Rialto bridge I was going to ask the woman of my dreams, by beautiful, funny, charming and loving girlfriend to marry me. Nervous because I wasn’t sure if I was going to remember what I wanted to say, nervous if it was the right thing to say, nervous to be carrying a diamond ring in my jeans. The photo session was a blessing in disguise as I wanted the beginning of our lives together as an engaged couple documented. I wanted to document those emotions that we felt, Neeva crying, me smiling and the crowd around us clapping.

Exactly one year ago today the woman of my dreams agreed to marry me. Since then we have discussed/argued and I have ultimately lost on just about everything related to the wedding including linens, table center pieces, timelines, menus, lighting design, mandap design, music and a million other wedding related items but all I can do is smile knowing that in 4 short weeks we will be married.
