Shazia wasn’t sure why her friend was emphatic that she meets Yasir. Shazia simply thought her non-Muslim friend had one other Muslim friend in the world and wanted to set them up. Her hesitation was high but she was willing to give it a try. Yasir drove three hours from Baltimore to Philadelphia to meet Shazia, he was nervous, a little anxious but all around excited to meet the girl his friend had been telling him all about. He was a bit of a romantic who wore his heart on his sleeve and wanted to see if this crazy setup could lead to a life of love. Their mutual friend talked both of their ears off about the other and how they were perfect for each other, how they shared the same personality and outlooks on life.
Simply put, their mutual friend could not have been more right. They instantly hit it off, laughing the night away, learning about the other and longing to see each other again. Fast forward four years and their mutual friend was sitting near the front of their Walima mouthing the words “I Told you so” over and over again.
Shazia and Yasir’s Walima was absolutely beautiful with ornate crystal votive holders tapered on every table, with beautiful floral centerpieces and blood red table cloths. The décor by Partyland Flowers was gorgeous and a perfect complement to the stunning dress adorned by the beautiful bride. The reception began with cake cutting and quickly led to humorous and heartfelt speeches by friends and family after which the families danced the night away.
